Deloitte surveyed 3,235 IT and business leaders across 24 countries this year. Only 21% say they have mature governance in place for agentic AI. By 2027, 74% expect to be running agents at real scale.
What Mature AI Governance Actually Means
Mature governance is not abstract. It comes down to three things:
- Clear boundaries for what an agent can decide on its own
- Real-time monitoring that catches an agent when it drifts
- A clear audit trail for when something goes wrong
About 80% of the organizations surveyed have none of it.
